Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation,

I’m writing to thank you because I was a recipient of some funds from the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation.

Last year I received a Beacon Award along with 100+ others, a very coveted award given to select aspiring future hairdresser professionals still in school across the nation. The Andrew Gomez funds assisted with my travel and lodging expenses to attend Beacon, the PBA Symposium 2009, and the NAHA awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The reason I’m so gracious for the gift I received is because last year my husband lost his job and wasn’t hired until several months later. Of course we were challenged to carefully redirect our financial situation. By having the funds to attend PBA Beauty Week I was able to meet a generous amount of mentors and gain so much knowledge of our beauty industry. I took a lot of what I learned and put it into action when I got back home and created a momentum in my career.

I am blessed with the gift to do great hair and help people feel better about themselves and I’m blessed by your foundation that’s helped me and many others do the same. I feel great to be a part of a culture that makes a difference in the world day by day.
